Operation Muskaan — 518 children rescued in Jharkhand, more than 300 rescued in Tamil Nadu

Operation Muskaan, a nationwide campaign was launched by the Indian government to combat child trafficking, track down missing children, and rescue children forced into sexual activities. It was conducted from July 1 to July 31 in the state of Tamil Nadu, according to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Crime Records Bureau, Chennai Commissioner’s Office.

More than 300 missing children were rescued during Operation Muskaan in Tamil Nadu during the month-long campaign, according to a report in the The Times of India dated Aug 3, 2015.

The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched a Facebook (FB) page dedicated to Operation Muskaan. 518  children have been rescued in Jharkhand till date according to information released in the FB page.
