When DCFS or Child Protective Service come knocking at your door, how do you respond?
You do everything possible to be cooperative and show and tell them that you are a responsible and accountable parent who has a good head on his or her shoulder and their investigation for possible child abuse/neglect will turn out unsubstantiated because the incident they are investigating is a one-time incident that you have accounted for, resolved by problem-solving, and will unlikely happen again in the future because you now have precautions in place. You must show DCFS that you will jump through hoops of fire whether it was your fault or not to protect your child now and in the future.
